Challenge
CalMac's ageing Asset Management Technology system no longer provided the visibility required to manage the maintenance of a complex ferry fleet. Without a reliable single source of truth, maintenance planning became increasingly difficult, introducing operational risk and limiting the organisation's ability to plan for the future.
Our Approach
Antares led the discovery, procurement and implementation planning for a replacement enterprise asset management platform. Working closely with operational teams, engineers and senior stakeholders, we translated complex business requirements into a clear procurement strategy before leading a comprehensive supplier evaluation process.
Rather than selecting software based on features alone, we focused on long-term operational fit, ensuring the chosen solution aligned with regulatory requirements, maintenance processes and future business needs. Alongside supplier selection, we developed implementation, data migration, integration and training plans to prepare the organisation for successful deployment.
Outcome
Although wider organisational priorities ultimately delayed implementation, the programme achieved everything required to move confidently into delivery. A preferred supplier was selected, implementation plans were completed, and the organisation was left with a fully defined roadmap for future deployment. By investing time in getting the foundations right, Antares ensured the work remained valuable regardless of changing business priorities.
